so I guess you are using the Nomachine NX server not FreeNX.

Correct.

Did you run fc-cache ??

It turns out the application itself does not know how to interact with fc
so is unable to find the fonts.
By running xset +fp 'path to fonts' in the nxclient, I can get the app to
work. Is there a way to do something like this in the nxclient/server
config? I am having trouble figuring out what nomachine reads at start
up to define it's fontpath. It doesn't seem to be reading
/etc/X11/xorg.conf as changes to the fontpath there do not show up in
nomachines environment when running xset q.
What is the nomachine startup sequence so that I can globally tweak the
fontpath?
Thanks.
