Are you ssh-ing from a machine not running X then??
eg. your windows machine . .

To diagnose further you need an X session connected
to your Centos machine,
eg.
ssh -X from a machine running X
or
nxclient to something that works, xterm, KDE, gnome, icewm
or
a console session with "startx"

You can then test nxagent . . .
