NX4 clients can't work with a NX3 server (FreeNX or otherwise). An NX4
server can work with NX3 clients however.
If you are looking for an OSX NX3 client replacement, you might have a
look at OpenNX (http://www.opennx.net). With 10.7, it currently has
keyboard-layout problems, but I hope that I will be able to solve those
soon.
