I can assure you that I was running this setup for a long time ...
server: Ubuntu 9.10 and freenx server from ppa.
client: Windows XP SP3 and NX Client from no machine (I can't remember the exact version)
The file sharing works fine, but no local printing. Look this: http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/freenx-knx/2010-March/008766.html

Thanks for replay Marc.
Did you try file-sharing connecting from Windows XP when you were using freenx from freenx-team ppa? Filesharing works fine when client side is linux or Mac OSX box but doesn't work with WinXP.

Now I have installed NXServer from No Machine site and I have the same problem.
A few weeks ago, I was using freenx server from freenx-team ppa and I can mount shares with no problems.
When I have time I try to go back and use FreeNX again, to see what happens.

I was installed in a Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 clean box FreeNX from Launchpad ppa using this info:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX
FreeNX is working fine with remote users accesing from Linux or Mac boxes with the last NX Client downloaded from nomachine.com. From these boxes smb shares are mounted fine and works as expected.
When I try to connect from Windows XP client, the share I selected in client side is not right mounted showing allways this message:
Info: Share: '//COMPUTER/FOLDER' failed to mount: mount error(5): Input/output error
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
In Windows XP machine the share is available for the net and users can read and write with no problems.
Is there somebody that filesharingfrom windowsworks out of the box in Ubuntu 9.10?
Thanks in advance,
Ricardo Daz
