In my root account's clients file, it also reports "Cannot open compiled/server-100....", but root account works Ok. Maybe it doesn't matter.

other accounts on my server but have keyboard mapping problem, only the number pad can use . my server's operator system is redhat linux 5.1.

I report it last October in this maillist, but i still don't know how to fix it.

In options file the keyboard is pc102/it (root or non-root).
Furthermore in clients file i find:
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Error: Cannot open "compiled/server-1000.xkm" to write keyboard description
> Exiting
