If you launch kcontrol and look in <Peripherals> <Printers>, it will tell 
you at the bottom on the page under <Print system currently used> which 
print system you are using and which server is the current one.

If it is set to the system one then you will only see printers connected 
to that instance.

Mine is set to  ~/.nx/C-session-details/cups/cups.sock   which means 
lpstsat etc use that instance.

If you run kcontrol as root, then under the <Print Manager> drop down you 
can select <Configure Manager> and, under <Cups Server> add the FULL PATH 
to your nx cups.sock to Host: under server dialogue.

Try this and see if you can see and print to the Workstation Printers.
