I don't know enough about the internals of the NX protocol, but !M has

Maybe this is related and your findings are the underlaying reasons for 
them to do this?

Maybe you could try to do the same on the NoMachine testing servers? This
would help to see if it's the NX protocol or FreeNX that has these issues.
