As more attention turns towards launching various applications from load
balanced servers, some day we will run into problems with various gnome
applications coming from different servers for the same user.

I've done this before with LTSP thin clients and ran into long timeouts
when applications from the second server try to launch. Gnome
applications seem to contact the gconfd for updates on how they should
theme themselves and other GUI variables. Typically this communication
is done through a file system socket. Is there a way to make a file
socket available through the ltspfs mechanism?

The benefits to distributed applications servers are these:
1. Cache Ram hits are increased greatly.
2. Better use of RAM.
3. Atomic distribution of application load rather than entire desktops.
4. Increased number of users served.
