The real question is why do you need 8-bit color?
(I ask this question, because sometimes there are amazing workarounds
possible ...)
The other answer is that I do not know if its not possible or if its a
bug.
Please ask NoMachine. You can describe your problem with a complete
description of your setup and screenshots to developers at nomachine.com.
However they most probably will help you faster, if you buy some
commercial support for this issue. (As it seems only to occur with some
special software that most probably is commercial as well ...)

------
You are totally right.
I work in a commercial world with expensive machines and applications.
Some of the applications are very old but sometimes we have to wake up
old projects. Changing tools is sometimes not possible or
time-consuming/expensive. Some tools are bundled with a machine costing
more than I will earn in a lifetime. :-(
I am very interested in "amazing workarounds". :-)
The workaround today is to have a xdmcp session/ica session handling old
tools.
I just want to know if windows nxclient/freenx is able to handle 8bit.
Regarding color palettes. This is know issue to me with application not
getting the required colors but that is still usable. Windows
nxclient/freenx 8bit is not usable sins it is not readable.
By the way. Talked with a user complaining about nxclient being a little
bit slower than sitting on the machine. According to me that is good
news that users are comparing with a local display.
Keep up the good work.
/Andreas.
