Well I could not see anything new from the nxnode log unfortunately.

You could try to manually startup the agent to test this:

$ ssh -X user at host
$ DISPLAY="nx/nx,link=modem:1000" /usr/NX/bin/nxnode --agent :1000

And see if this gives any errors as well ...
