That (very likely) will not work.

"startkde" is a script that ships with KDE (usually as part of the distro provided package named "kdebase" or similar; I think in Debian they put it into the package "ksmserver").

If it is missing, KDE will not start even in a local, non-NX session! Can you run KDE in a non-NX, local session at all?!?

However, I wouldn't rule out that your distro (whatever that is, I haven't read it) has hacked its own $kdestart script and given it a different name.

Try to run s.th. like

    rpm -ql kdebase | grep startkde     # on RPM-based distros
    dpkg -L kdebase | grep startkde     # on Debian-based distros
    dpkg -L ksmserver | grep startkde   # on Debian-based distros

to find the full path of "startkde".
