Hi,
I have debian etch, and I have installed it and it works fine (suspend sessions work fine, sound, and other stuff I have seen complaints about works fine). I use the client from nomachine's web site, and it just works.
These are the files I see in my freenxpkg directory:
freenx_0.6.0dol1_all.deb nxagent-dev_2.1.0dol1_all.deb
freenx_0.6.0dol1.dsc nxdesktop_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb
freenx_0.6.0dol1.tar.gz nxlibs_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb
libxcomp1_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb nxlibs-dev_2.1.0dol1_all.deb
libxcomp-dev_2.1.0dol1_all.deb nxproxy_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb
libxcompext1_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb nxviewer_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb
libxcompext-dev_2.1.0dol1_all.deb Packages
nx_2.1.0dol1.dsc Packages.gz
nx_2.1.0dol1.tar.gz Sources
nxagent_2.1.0dol1_i386.deb Sources.gz

I am wrong. You can use a 2.X client to connect to a 1.5 server, but not
the other way arround.
