[FreeNX-kNX] didn't provide a valid cookie??

Just starting out with nx. I've installed nx on the server ( 
the fc4 rpm ). Using nxclient-1.5.0-113.

The connection fails with this error:

NXPROXY - Version 1.5.0

Info: Proxy running in client mode with pid '26959'.
Error: Failure negotiating the session in stage '7'.
Error: This means that we probably didn't provide a valid 
cookie.
Error: The remote NX proxy closed the connection.

Is this the problem:

The server does not have X started. It's a remote server. It 
does have xorg-x11 installed.
