SuSE 10, I understand ssh and setting up keys pretty well
I'm trying to install FreeNX and I can't get it to work. I haven't found any
great documentation so I'm wading through the documentation I've found so
far. I did a
nxsetup -install -setup-nomachine-key -clean -purge
I don't really know what this does but it generated
Removing user nx ...no crontab for nx
done
Removing session database ...done
Removing logfile ...done
Removing nx home directory ...done
Removing configuration files ...done
Setting up /etc/nxserver ...done
Generating public/private dsa key pair.
Your identification has been saved in /etc/nxserver/users.id_dsa.
Your public key has been saved in /etc/nxserver/users.id_dsa.pub.
The key fingerprint is:
xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx root at madhatter
Setting up /var/lib/nxserver/db ...done
Setting up /var/log/nxserver.log ...done
Setting up user nx ...shell-init: error retrieving current directory:
getcwd: cannot access parent directories: No such file or directory
done
Setting up known_hosts and authorized_keys2 ...done
Setting up permissions ...done
Ok, nxserver is ready.
PAM authentication enabled:
All users will be able to login with their normal passwords.
PAM authentication will be done through SSH.
Please ensure that SSHD on localhost accepts password authentication.
You can change this behaviour in the /etc/nxserver/node.conf file.
Have Fun!
Now what? I tried copying /etc/nxserver/users.id_dsa to
/var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key. I'm not sure if this is
correct. When I run the kNX client I get the error "Connection to NX server
could not be established. Connection timed out.". Here is my line from
/etc/passwd:
nx:x:114:100::/var/lib/nxserver/home:/usr/bin/nxserver
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks a million.
