No, you did not. If you did, you would not have libXcompext in /lib, but 
somewhere else ...

Read INSTALL in freenx-0.4.0 it explains where to copy the files and how to 
apply the gentoo-nomachine.diff (It might be broken at the present 
moment) ...

The easiest really is to "install" everything to /usr/NX if you want to do it 
by hand ...
