Hi,
I just tried setting up FreeNX for the first time. I basically followed this
tutorial: http://www.gnomeuser.org/documents/howto/nx.html
In short, it says: untar nxclient and nxserver and freenx, mv NX to /usr/,
copy profile.d scripts, add the nx user, generate keys, apply path patch ( I
used the one that came with the FreeNX tarball instead), copy the scripts
to /usr/NX/bin/ and run nxsetup.
Now... running nxsetup alone didn't work. had to provide --install and since
it appeared appropriate I added --setup-nomachine-key (Supposed to? Wasn't
sure here). Did take into respect that now there's a "keys" dir. added a user
and passwords. (By the way, if the username for NX has to match the Linux
account name, what is the nx user good for?)
So after that I mv'ed and scp'ed a lot of keys to alot of places according to
a range of howtos and miling list hints I still can't log in. I get this: (in
a barely readable small font, by the way):
NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 8735
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files
NX> 200 Connected to address: 192.168.0.2 on port: 22
NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx
NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey
NX> 204 Authentication failed.
Now - I'm outta ideas here. Could someone provide me with how to generate the
key with freenx 0.4.3/nxserver 1.5.0/nxclient 1.5.0, and where to put them on
server and client side? There anything else I'm missing? (firewall is alright
for port 22)
