Umm, no, the packages aren't *broken* at all.  The problem is that
you're using the kanotix unstable repository, which is tracking debian
unstable (sid), and not stable (sarge).  Kanotix provides a "stable"
repository that tracks sarge if you want to try it, but according to the
readme, it's totally unsupported/untested by them.
