   As part of the GStreamer [http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/] invasion
of KDE, Ronald Bultje [http://ronald.bitfreak.net/] has implemented Kiss

[http://ronald.bitfreak.net/priv/kiss-0.0.1.tar.gz], a Totem-like video
player for KDE with a GStreamer-backend.  I took a look at the source
code and it looks fairly simple -- it's actually 23K worth of
well-separated code in all, with the other 2.8M being makefile/configure
overhead. Even if you doesn't understand the GStreamer parts, you could
probably copy and paste them into your own KDE application. 
(Incidentally, this application seems to have been made with KDevelop.
