How to compile Digikam?

Hi all,
One of my Digikam DB has been corrupted and causes Digikam to seg-fault
on open.
I want to track down the cause. I suspect one of the DB records has a
field with an invalid value which sends Digikam in limbo when it tries
to interpret it.
To check the DB is still globally in good shape, I have written a small
Django app to display pictures with date, title and comment (this is the
limit of my understanding of the DB schema). Everything appears on
screen as expected. So the problem may be in the flags (they follow a
complex hierarchical tree structure).
The simplest fix technique would be to recreate the DB from scratch, but
it contains ~10k pictures with some comments coming from various other
people, comments I don't remember in all details. And 10k is too much
for me.
Therefore I want to trace Digikam (valgrind or other utility) to
identify which record is causing the trouble.
I have downloaded the source tarball. But instruction to compile are not
that clear. I launched /bootstrap.linux/ and I bump into dependency issues.
1- what are the needed (library) packages to install?
2- what is the official compiling procedure? (in other words, how to
boot cmake?)
Thanks for any guidance.
Patrick
