I can’t think of a reason why Alan can’t achieve everything in Digikam.
My. Photos have hierarchical tags, because I find they speed up the tagging
process. When I apply the lowest level tag, digikam is configured to apply
all parent tags too. e.g. When the tag Deal is applied to an image, Places,
Britain, Kent and East Kent are automatically assigned too.
Using digikam’s filters makes it easy to see which images have particular
tags, these may then be printed, batch processed, or exported.
