Missing Thumbnails on removeable media with 8.8

I upgraded to version 8.8 on a Windows 11 platform.
Thumbnails on the removeable media album do not show when removeable media removed.
I connected the removable media and rebuilt the thumbnails.
Problem still exists.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?
