 Hi James,

I'm replying in the group again so others can follow the thread. Both sample 
images are displayed here under Linux without any problems or errors.
I'll test them on Windows later.

It's hard to say at the moment why you're not seeing a thumbnail.
ould it be a problem with the file permissions?
Since GIMP is also reporting an error in the file header, a defective hard 
drive is also a possibility, although then you wouldn't have been able to send 
me a "healthy" copy.
A virus in your system could also cause this.
