Hi,
Since I don’t use darktable as my DAM, I modified the darktablerc file to store the darktable database in memory, which means it is created when I start darktable and deleted when darktable exits. This prevents new collections from being created.I don’t know if this is what you want as it completely disables the darktable DB, but look for the line in your darktablerc file that starts with database=. Mine now says database=:memory:
