digikamrc Setting file is missing

Dear digiKAM Experts,
 
We are running digiKAM 8.6.0 in a Windows-based multi terminal server environment with a single based MySQL database setting.
 
To assure that all members have the correct settings we automatically copy the digikamrc file into each %localappdata%\digikam whenever a member logs in.
 
Until version 8.5.0 this worked like a charm. Recently, we switched to 8.6.0 and also changed the database to another server. We thought that it is possible to do the DB migration process once and then simply copy the resulting digikamrc file to all other users local folder as before.
 
Unfortunately, when I do so the database is changed correctly but there is absolutely no digikamrc file at all. Funny enough, when I close digiKAM and open it again the new server settings are available. When I log into another terminal server digiKAM starts with eth old server settings.
 
It would be great if someone could lead me into the direction where to find the settings' file. Currently, I am unable to find it. I assume the path has been changed.
