Is 8.6.0 face recognition supposed to handle animals?

(Resending a yet again but in reply now to the most recent message, with
more highly compressed attachment, my first attempts were rejected due to
size or my incompetence)
I've been getting animal faces in the unknown list for at least a year or
two, so it's not new to this version. That said, I assumed it was not
specifically trained to look for animals, but things just happened to look
like a human face. Some of the examples it finds don't have the face even
visible, but most do. Here's an example:

Based on what Michael Miller said, it makes sense many of my animal faces
are not caught or recognized, though I do get some correct recognitions on
my dogs after I tagged them a few times. I always manually add the tags if
they aren't caught because I like to find photos by member of the family
regardless of their species.
Animal faces are faces, too. :-)
