digikam allow browse path directory ?

Hello.
I has downloaded digiKam-8.5.0-Qt6-x86-64.appimage for Linux.
I want catalog video sorting by resolution video size.
However that software is much strange and hard to use when trying create 
an database.
Generally photo managers has features to allow the user to browse path 
folders. An button action or and option in left side of GUI. The user 
click and start browsing selecting paths and directories and in GUI 
right side is done an thumbnail cataloging so only is done access to 
user image video files and creation of thumbnail database. Unhappily 
perhaps Digikam not works doing it.
I only see option to import the path directory to albums ... so is done 
an file copy of ALL files for digikam default user folder directory. I 
not want to do it.
Digikam has any feature to browse path directories and catalog files not 
need copy all for digikam default work folder directory ?
