Mick,
If you haven't already deleted the oddball files, copy them somewhere
before deleting. You might want to look at them sometime.
You might also load them into an editor. That will probably show
gibberish, but it could be entertaining.
My search for "arw file extension" shows they are "Sony Alpha Raw images".
Gimp might understand them.
