Empty timeline view, empty dates view - but can search for dates?

Thanks for the lightning fast reply. I will look into the logs, too, and might file a bug report on debian, then.
According to the package info https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/digikam it looks like there are very few patches to digikam
itself.
Not knowing the internals of digikam I would have expected that the view is populated from the DB based on a SQL Query like
SELECT EXTRACT(YEAR_MONTH FROM creationDate) AS the_key,COUNT(1)
FROM ImageInformation
GROUP BY the_key
ORDER BY the_key
which - according to docs - would be the same on MySQL as on MariaDB. SQLite does not, though. Could always convert to
string first, though.
Anyhow, I will switch to the AppImage one, too, at least for the time being.
