Digikam cannot display pictures

Today it was the first time I tried to import pictures I have taken with my iPhone 16.
I recognize that Digikam is unable to display these pictures.
Digikam can display pictures in HEIC format taken with iPhone 14 but fails with HEIC pictures taken with iPhone 16.
I’m running Digikam 8.4.0 on MacOS 15.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
