Metadata update for multiple items

How  do you write or copy metadata to multiple items simultaneously?

 

Using DigiKam I would like to be able to enter for example, location info
(City, Sublocation, State, Country) to multiple items (image files) at once.
When I select multiple items in the Icon Area and enter this info with "Edit
Metadata" it only updates one item.
If I select multiple items and enter a Caption, tag, rating or color, it
works ok, but not for exif/iptc/xmp metadata.
Or alternatively, is there a way to copy this metadata from an item to
multiple other items?
