openSUSE Tumbleweed update problems.

I am running openSUSE Tumbleweed and a recent update failed on ImageMagick.

In the end I decided to un-install using Yast2.  For some reason this 
also un-installed DigiKam from my system.

I had DigiKam installed from the repo site but on reflection I am 
considering installing both from the appimage.  Is that the recommended 
approach and are there any special steps I must take?
