rating missing in thumbnails

I cannot reproduce any problem here, changes are applied both at runtime, when 
the option to monitor for external changes is enabled, and when digiKam 
scanning at start.

Are you using sidecar? Note, however, that in order to read changes to rating 
values, the metadata option to rescan when changes occur must be enabled.
