How to align after a backup recover

Hello,

I'm a happy user of Digikam for many years, with a very big pictures 
archive.
Recently for some reason I lost all the 4 database files.
Then I replaced them using the latest backup, old by a few month.
Now I have all the pictures well organized in folders, with their xmp 
files, including the information like stars, colors, facial 
recognitions, and so on.
The 4 database files are not updated, they are few month old and are 
missing of the recent album organization and other information.

My question is: how to align the database information using the correct 
and updated data of the xmp files ?
Is there a way to recover from this issue ?
