Sort by date not working

Hello,

I have posted to discuss.kde.org, but as I haven't received a reply, I 
will try it here:

Using Digikam 8.1 on Arch Linux, the sort order doesn’t really makes 
sense for me.

I have these settings:

  * Sort entries by creation date
  * Order: Ascending
  * Group By: Month

I view a single album. The first picture (I am looking at the big date 
at the bottom of the file properties panel) has a date of 15.08.2023 
07:08, next one is 15.08.2023 07:11 and so on. So far it makes sense. 
But after the last image of the day, the next entry is from 14.08.2023 
08:33, …

The sort order inside one single day is correct, but the days itself are 
sorted in descending order.

Furthermore, another behavior has occurred to me. I view a an album 
which contains only pictures of one month. From day 1 to day 31. 
Changing the sort order shuffles some pictures around, but there are 
always pictures from day 31 at the beginning of the album view.

Changing the grouping to flat list seems to fix it. Still, I don't 
understand why?

I haven’t found a bug report and wanted to verify first.
