mc can display 99% of that 231 pix files in under a second of wall time.
Lets add some more data to this, may or may not be germain to the problem:
This /home partition is on a raid10 of about 1.9 Tb, (4 1 T samsung
SSD'd) and was not present when bookworm was installed. Because the DI
has a penchant for formatting everything it finds, AND gives no
indication, no list of whats it going to format, which would destroy
about 2 decades of history if it formatted my /home, all other disks and
disk controllers associated with the raid were unplugged during the
install. Its mounted in /etc/fstab, over the /home directory the
installer made so everything in /home is as bullseye wrote it. Same
mdadm and ext4 file system as bullseye built 2 years back.
If its the difference between a bullseye filesystem ext4 and the
bookworm ext4 file system, this is the first indication of an
incompatibility. The pictures AFAIK are in a normal ext4 filesystem flat
directory. I can look at them with ls instantly. Whats next?
Thank you.
