Afaik, lens recognition depends on Exiv2 (or exiftool) and lensfun. 

You might try to recover the lens ID for your lens (exiv2/exiftool) and use 
that to tell Exiv2 what lens you have in the .exiv2 file (in your home 
directory under Linux, I have no idea what the corresponding file and location 
under windows would be).

Lensfun has data for both the F4 and the F2.8 version in its database.
