[digiKam-users] How To Tell DigiKam That Image Files Have Moved?

Best practice is to move files around from within Digikam, I believe.

See a previous thread where people expressed their workflows. Some good
ideas in there. One that I use is to have an incoming location where all my
photos get dumped after a "shoot", then I use Digikam tag, face tag, edit,
etc. and then move them out to my preferred physical location from within
Digikam. I never move things around in file explorer outside of Digikam
after they've been ingested. Album View is the place to drag and drop
folders... or right click and Move

If you've told digikam to store ALL metadata in your files (or sidecars)
and you've already moved files around outside of Digikam you can probably
just do a 're-scan' and everything would be retained. Tools | Scan for new
items. It'll find your files in their new location (make sure you've got
the new location somewhere in your collections paths). Setting | Configure
Digikam | Collections

Otherwise if you've already moved things around outside of digikam and the
metadata is only stored in the database then I think the manual fixup is
your best bet.
