How Exclude Certain File Types From Albums?

DigiKam 8.2.0

Can I tell DigiKam to ignore certain file types when it creates a 
collection/album?

I understand that DigiKam creates a new collection by inserting records 
into its database for the files in a folder.
However, I gather that DigiKam does not create a record for every kind 
of file.  E.g., it excludes ".txt" files.
Can I tell DigiKam to exclude other file types, e.g. ".xcf"?
