Deleting a JPG also deletes the raw photo

OS: Linux Mint 21.2 digiKam: 8.2.0 Cameras: Lumix FZ300, Lumix LX7, Sony RX10IV

I usually shoot Raw+JPEG in the cameras shown above. After importing the photos into digiKam, I see both thumbnails and images for both the Raw and JPEG images. If I then delete the JPEG image, the JPEG image and thumbnail are both deleted. However, the software then also deletes the Raw file, but retains the Raw thumbnail. Using my OS's file manager, I see that the Raw data file is deleted.
I don't remember this being an issue in the past, so would appreciate any help you can provide.
