[digiKam-users] The Mediawiki upload plugin is broken, fixing it should not be difficult

Hi all,

digikam's Mediawiki upload plugin is broken since ca. October 2021: You can log in at the site, but you cannot upload files. There's a bug report at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444265, but apparently it's not a priority since replies there are rather sparse.

The reason is most likely that some Mediawiki API parameters that were deprecated in 2014 were finally removed in Ocotber 2021, see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.37/Deprecation_of_legacy_API_token_parameters. The Mediawiki upload plugin seems to have been written in 2012, so it is most likely still using the old API parameters that don't work anymore.

My uneducated guess is that the fix is probably replacing something like "action=query&list=users&ustoken=userrights" with another something like "action=query&meta=tokens&type=userrights". But I'm not actually a developer or programmer, I don't know how to do these things.

So my question is: Would someone who actually IS a programmer/developer take a look at this and preferably fix it? My profuse thanks go out in advance to anybody who does ;-)

Regards

FRF
