[digiKam-users] overlay selected metadata on preview and slideshow

Thanks Maik, I see that this play button has a hover " ShowFullscreen"
which is acts as synonym for Slideshow. I was never able to find any
configuration menu for Slideshow under Settiings>Views. In Settings>Views
only the Icon tab has a large menu of toggles for controllling the
thumbnail overlay. It appears that Preview has no overlay display of
labels or text metadata.
Then for Slideshow the configuration is built into the actual slideshow
screen at a button showing graphical slides. I had never gone there, not
knowing that it opens a menu of configuration toggles which fortunately are
persistent between program starts. I am also curious which rc or config
file persists those settings.
Presentations seem similar to SLideshow but have a startup greeting
screen with tabbed configuration that can only add filename and a caption
as an image overlay. Both slideshow and presentations are modes of display
that are not managed through Settings>Views
Slideshow can satisfy my need for large screen technical audiences that
want to see some metadata on every image.
Curiously I dont see a tool to build and replay a diverse list of images to
rerun as a prepared slideshow. Such a list often needs to have additions
that cannot be crafted by a searched selection or a filter variable.
Can anyone advise how a list is preared for a slideshow?
I do still wish for configured overlay of metadata in the Preview mode
of display and at present I need to dig to understand how the bug history
posted by Gilles relates to effective overlays

Thanks Ty
