[digiKam-users] Accessibility fields missing from metadata editor and views – vote on feature request.

I missed the AltTextAccessibility and ExtDescrAccessibility fields, 
under "XMP", in the Settings > Metadata > Views > ExifTool Viewer list. 
So, yes, those fields are listed for the ExifTool Viewer.

However, I don't see them in Settings > Metadata > Views > XMP Viewer –

In an image on the web, the 'alt' attribute of the HTML 'img' tag is 
usually where descriptive text about the image is expected by 
accessibility tools. I am not aware of a standard that, prior to the 
addition of the above IPTC fields, specified IPTC/XMP/Exif fields whose 
contents were meant for accessibility functions. Choosing the field 
whose contents populate the 'alt' attribute currently seems to be up to 
the application. See, for instance, this thread:

An example use case is that of an image creator/publisher entering text 
for accessibility tools in a field that will reliably populate the 'alt' 
attribute in the 'img' tag of the uploaded image, if the 
uploading/posting software offers such a feature. Apparently, the new 
IPTC accessibility fields are meant to serve such a purpose. For 
instance, if AltTextAccessibility were editable in the digiKam metadata 
editor (in the applicable namespaces), then the creator/publisher would 
be able to provide the text for the 'alt' attribute in that field once, 
and have it set as the value of 'alt' whenever uploading.
