[digiKam-users] Any recommendation, should I migrate to digiKam when the photos still are on macOS or wait until they are moved to Linux (Mint) OS?

Hi,

I am interested in any recommendation that can help my planning. 

Existing:
Machine A: macOS. Main photo catalog, on Photoshop Elements. 
Machine B: LinuxMint. Minor photo catalog, on digiKam (AppImage), eg a portable solution for a few photos under work.

Planned:
Machine C: Replacement of Machine A. LinuxMint. Main photo catalog, on digiKam (AppImage).

For info, to secure that as much as possible of eg metadata will be included in migration from Photoshop Elements to digiKam, the migration will go via Lightroom on Machine A. 

Question: 
From technical point of view, any recommendation whether it is best to migrate the main catalog to digiKam when the photos are on Machine A or when they have been moved to Machine C; should I install digiKam on Machine A or not? 
a) Migrate on Machine A
b) Migrate on Machine C
c) Does not matter
d) It depends on…
