[digiKam-users] Open with Darktable no longer an option for Linux Mint Cinnamon?

I've been using Digikam as image manager very happily for some time,
with Darktable as my software of choice for editing RAW files and
exporting to JPEG.

Previously, I've been able to select one or more images in a Digikam
album, right-click on 'Open with...' - and Darktable is the first
option. Easy to use, and the metadata from Digikam would be exported
too, so that the exported JPEG file (which I'd put in a sub-folder)
would have the same metadata as the RAW original. Great!

But with the latest versions (currently I'm using 7.2), 'Open with...'
has only ShowFoto, and no way to add Darktable to the list that I can
find. So all I've been able to do is open the folder in the file manager
and identify the image(s) by name to load them in Darktable. For my
current project, that's a folder of 334 images, so not much fun! The
metadata isn't exported either, so the JPEGs lose their captions, tags,
etc (I've just seen that I maybe needed to adjust a setting for sidecar
export, but have yet to see if that's the case.)

I realise that Digikam is a KDE program and with Linux Mint Cinnamon I'm
not running KDE, but this hasn't been a problem till now.

Digikam and Darktable have been important to the development of my
digital photography skills - can anyone help me get them working happily
together again?

Many thanks

Tom Rank
