[digiKam-users] top level album shows twice, how to fix?

Hello I am a new digikam user. My setup that I want is that the pictures are
on a NAS with Mariadb. I want to access this from a windows 10 computer (me)
and a mac (my wife). The first problem I ran into is that the locale was
deemed to be different between the two systems even though both are utf-8,
and we don't use special names (more like original dos 8.3 names) so the
deltas should not matter. Might be nice to allow the warning to be ignored
rather than rebuild the database each time. So on windows I installed wls 2
with ubuntu and put that up. That now has the same locale as the mac.
However somehow in there the top album shows up more than once and the
directories and subdirectories may not be equal: How do I get rid of this? I
thought that if I put new database names in the configuration, I could just
start fresh, but unlike the initial install of digikam, if you change the
database names it will not ask to create instead leave you with uninstalling
and getting rid of the files the uninstall does not delete (in windows
anyway) and go back to digikam. Here is what the browser album window looks
like: How do I either fix the database or start over? I do think some of
the issues may be using multiple platforms to use digikam because the file
path on a max is not the same as wsl2 or windows10 (nor is wsl2 the same as
windows10)Here is how digikam looks from the album view:
