It's possible that the NAS appears as a different device after a reconnect.
That means Digikam won't recognise it, and the associated file paths. That 
means it'll have to rescan the collection.

This *might* be caused by a change in IP address for the NAS. Most home 
routers use DHCP, with which IP addresses are attributed by the router (as 
DHCP host). Normall, the attributed IP address can/will change at every 
connection, but you can tell the router to use a fixed address for a given MAC 
address. MAC (nothing to do with Apple) are unique to each network card (at 
least in theory), and thus, in practice, for each device. Perhaps useful to do 
this for any server on your network (like a NAS, or a network printer).
