brightness down slightly and up the contrast to fill the entire 16 bit
range. Generally this works well and the end tones appear well distributed
and only rarely do I need to change to base Gamma.

The DK pdf manual really needs to provide better illumination on this area
... trial and error is not much fun.

I had a further problem establishing the icc for my new Canon 50D ...
probably by luck I have found a profile (6051) that works .. sure would be
nice if somebody out there could confirm.
