Thanks for answer. I clicked on refresh, then I selected the same folder but the collection still appears to be unavailable.

This is the problem. the collection is not available. I suspect the UUID has 
changed from the drive. Go into the digiKam settings under collections and use 
the refresh function (icon next to the trash in the line of the path of the 
collection).
