Hi,

The AppImage do not have all features, mostly based on KIO framework,
because this cannot be bundled.
This include the KDE Plasma desktop integration.

But AppImage is well tuned. All shared libraries used in the bundle are up
to date, and optimized. For ex, Exiv2 video support is disabled, and
OpenCV3 is compiled with the minimum required for digiKam.

AppImage can be run in debugger to get a backtrace and permit to
investiguate.

AppImage include also Showfoto. There is an option in CLI.

AppImage is always available with last digiKam code from git. This require
one hour to compile the file and to upload on server. This is perfect to
check new features or to valid a fix.

AppImage is certainly not perfect, but it's rock to have a digiKam up to
date very quickly. It's maintained by us, so we control all the process.
It's optimum.

VoilĂ
