Okay, Thanks !I can open and read digikamrc; now I just need to see if I can understand what I am seeing.I won't make any changes until I am certain of the outcome.

Your user probably has no write access to the folder or maybe digikam isn't closed so it blocks access to the file. I am pretty sure the config you are looking for is digikamrc

Hi,Sorry to be such a dumbie; however, when I navigate to the first of the four paths you listed, I immediately get a pop-up window that asks me which program I want to open the file with; every program I have is listed (and there are many); what kind of files are these and what opens them ? Or, am I doing something wrong ?
Thanks so much.

No, dll files are 'Dynamic Link Libraries' and contain executable code
that is needed to make programs run.
The digikam configuration files are supposed to be
~/Local Settings/digikamrc
~/Local Settings/digikam_tagsmanagerrc
~/Local Settings/kipipluginsrc
~/Local Settings/kipirc
~/Local Settings/showfotorc
~/Local Settings/digikam/*
Where the ~ stands for C:\Users\<username> and you need to use \ instead
of / everywhere in that list.
